Howdy all,
I've got ap roblem with my reverse lights, they don't light up.
Globes are fine, relay still intact, the rear brake lights work. According to the wiring diagram they go through a switch on the gearbox before spliiting off to L&R sides. The problem is I don't know where the switch is.....does anybody know?
Cheers

cheers guys for the info, and thanks Fatty for answering the question....should have stated it.
bugger, that means I have to crawl under the car, but I have to procure a couple of stands first.
Anyone know of failures to date and anything in particular I should check?

mate, it's rather funny because i have this EXACT same problem at the moment (ie no reverse lights). we had the gearbox out recently to change the clutch so i'm assuming it's a result of that. now as luck would have it, as you know, i have a set of ramps. so you're welcome to come around and we can fix both cars at the same time!

I'll have to take you up on that offer, I'm hoping it's just a dodgy connection, and not something inside the box.

There is a plug (where the wires sit on top of the gearbox) where the reversing switch wires connect to the main wiring system - might have been dislodged.

The esteemed Fatty and I have determined for our cars the electrical switch itself has reached the end of its life and failed. It's an easy fix, disconnect two bullet connects for the switch, and then undo it from the gearbox (had to use a shifter, guess around a 20mm ring spanner).
Parts are on order so will let you know the outcome shortly.

wow,
it really has been a long time for us to get around to this. Well Fatty's problem was a dead reverse switch......
mine, is still yet to be determined. We replaced the switch, no reverse lights.
Tested the globes and they work.
Shorted out the switch, no lights.
made sure the car was on and in reverse and repeated the above.....no lights.
Checked the fuse, no lights.
Checked the switch (on the globe side) to chassis around 4 ohms.
so me thinks there is a loom problem.

The wires from the switch connect into another lead on top of the gearbox. Has that connection been checked
