I saw this advertised in a mag.

Alpine also have a similar unit, but theirs is around $600. One was for sale on this forum a couple of months ago.

Next will be solid state hardrives so all your music is already loaded into the headdeck. Its about time they did this!

A headunit that can play mp3's off a dvd-r would be a nice toy too. Sd cards are cheap but i still think there is a place for cd's, after all the cd mech is the cheap part. At least you wont have scratched cd's in the car .

It actually looks like it does have a cd player behind the face plate. There is a cd icon on the display and in the tech specs it mentiones cd.

I'm pretty sure these are available, I think I saw some while at a JBHi-Fi store some time ago.

I think the specs say it can control a cd stacker - DMS (Disk Management System). I am sure it doesn't contain a cd player within the unit.

as it says... "These impressive features eliminate the need for a CD drive and all the inconvenient juggling with your CD collection - you won’t miss it.

Any ideas on price? Considering it. An 8GB SD card is $90 and will hold over 2000 songs.
