NA Sub box
Does anyone have pics or details of a sub box that would fit in the boot cavity of an NA?
I'd like to fit a 12\" sub into a custom box that sits neatly in what looks like a spare wheel cavity (the bit that looks dug out), if you're looking in the boot you'd know what I mean!
Alternatively can anyone recommend a good car audio place in Melbourne that may have other options. I've currently got my 12\" sony sub/box and it takes up most of the boot, I can hardly fit a bag around it.
Cheers

Have a look at MX5_boys car.
It's a sweet ride, and a lot of what he's done I'm looking at doing to mine.
P.S. yes mx5_boy I dig your car

Lowmiata, your install has been my favourite out of all installs since you posted it on here.
What's your cardomain link?

It's vinyl stapled on. You can sort of see a staple into the side in that last pic.Captain Spank wrote:Is that painted board or have you covered that in leather/vinyl? Sweet as either way.

is the spare in the same spot or did you relocate it?
Cheers

Spare was gone years ago
Never had to use it!
ultra care RACQ membership! pay an arm and a leg for it! so I use it if needed!
Tyre in a can iss you next best thing
Captain S Board is 18mm MDF pencil rounds routered to the edges and just 1.5mm vynil (any clark rubber store has it.)
and contact adhesive to stick it all on and stapled so you can pull the corners up neat and proper only part that is hard is around the hinges
its very hard to finish around them thats all
uphulstry is quite easy you just need alot of patience

Inspiring stuff. Both MX5_boy's & lowmiata have different but great boot installs. I know what you mean by patience though. reupholstered some damage on one of my seats, and looking at manually replacing the pvc window this weekend.
I'd love to do both, but not 100% confident I've sorted my leaking boot issue....I think it's fixed, but then with it raining all this week, I'll check it on the weekend (normallly late at night before I get home, so have to wait till the weekend).

lowmiata, your setup looks awesome, but I don't have the patience to do the job.
MxJadeMonkey, I've been looking at the shallow subs from Pioneer, but even their sub boxes won't fit in the small boot recess we have. So I think I need a custom box to fit it there.
Alternatively I mount it like lowmiata has his.

depending on the overall finish you want it is achievable!
if you just want a sub in a box its not to hard at all
and to finish it off just carpet and staple it vynil has to be perfect but trimming in carpet hides alot of average work and makes it perfect.
