HELP!!! NA Pop-up headlight NOT poping up!

Postby Mr Starlet » Wed Mar 07, 2007 10:33 am

Hey All

What does it mean when my pop-up headlight won't pop up unless I use the button below the hazard?

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Minh

Lights goes on but not poping up, is there a dedicated fuse for poping the light up?

Possibilities:

1. Retractable headlight relay is inoperative (but don't ask me where it is :? ); or
2. Wire to it is broken/disconnected.

Save your energy and find the retractable headlight relay. Hint: it's not in the engine bay where they say it is for the US market cars.

Also consider the difference if one is popping up and the other isnt, its probably a fault with the motor itself then

So where would I find this relay? under the driverside where close the fuse box?

That's the whole problem...I don't know where it is but I know a couple of places it isn't.

I thiiiinnk it may be up under the dash on the driver's side but not with the other relays that are around the fuse box area.

Wire colours are:
red/green
white/black
black
red/yellow
white/red

Check that the Tail lights work. The tail light fuse operates the pop up Relay. the button on the dash bypasses the relay ( well on the NA 6 it does)

The hidden relay is under the dash on the drivers side, near the steering column, remove the plastic panel under the column to gain access.

Hope this helps :)

My understanding is that power for the operating side of the retractor relay comes through the \"head\" fuse via the headlight relay. The Motor power then come via the centre console override button.

Check this diagram

That is not the same wiring diagram I have. I have the Mazda Australia

will take a Pic of the pages and post them up tomorrow
