Has the Haltech been used on an SP and if so are there any tips before I go down this path
Kind regards

Re: Haltech Elite Megathread
I just purchased a Elite 1500 so I'll probably have some input and questions coming soon, especially being self tuned.

Re: Haltech Elite Megathread
I just put a 1500 in my NB8B it was easy you just need to do one wire at a time but they do have plug and play kit if it’s a wire in job I’d recommend if it’s a Ecu controlled alternator maybe change it over for a 323 Astina one like i did with mine years ago. And id rewire injectors and coils for full sequential for better fuel economy and better control.

Re: Haltech Elite Megathread
I have a NB8C and I got plug n play, I've looked at the Haltech base maps on ESP and I like the layout. Very user friendly. Can't wait to get started. Just need to decide on a wideband.MX5NBpsi wrote:I just put a 1500 in my NB8B it was easy you just need to do one wire at a time but they do have plug and play kit if it’s a wire in job I’d recommend if it’s a Ecu controlled alternator maybe change it over for a 323 Astina one like i did with mine years ago. Re: Haltech Elite Megathread
Get the Haltech wideband so it'll communicate over the CAN, much better than an analogue signal.

Re: Haltech Elite Megathread
I’m considering an elite 1500 for my currently stock SE. Does anyone have recommendations for installation and tuning in Sydney? Cheers.

Haltech 1500 and wideband have turned up. One last track day for the year next week then I'll install and start tuning. I'm gonna do a few logs pre haltech to get a baseline power graph then after as a guide to what gains have been made. Will be setting up an intake similar to this to start off.

Re: Haltech Elite Megathread
Are you going to be self-tuning, or sending off to a professional? I don't hear of too many people doing their own setup on Haltech like is common on Megasquirt, but I don't see any reason why not.
I'm keen to see how you get on.

Self tuning. I tuned my old 3 MPS to over 300kw with an accessport and learned a lot from that. The basic tuning principles don't change, only different software. Haltech's ESP looks good so far.ManiacLachy wrote:Are you going to be self-tuning, or sending off to a professional? I agree for sure! I just don't see many Haltech owners doing it compared to Megasquirt. Perhaps it comes down to tuner availability? There's not many who will use MS based on issues with very early DIY units, so you're almost forced to learn to tune yourself. Luckily there are many resources available online to teach. Where as Haltech is widely accepted around Australia, so finding a pro is simple, and often the easy button to good results.
Understanding the principles, learning the software, and taking your time are key. The Haltech software looks great from what I've seen.
I really am keen to follow your progress, maybe start a build thread?

Yeah I was thinking of starting a build thread. This is first thing I've really done that's worthy.

Re: Haltech Elite Megathread
Looking to drop a NB8B VVT engine into the track car over Christmas and fit a Elite 1500 to it at the same time.
Does anyone have a stockish VVT tuned map that they'd be willing to share? Thought it might be a better starting point than a base map.

I assume you have checked the list of base maps Haltech provide?
I have know idea how to tune an ECU, However when I required a base map to start mine, Haltech remotely connected to my PC which was connected to the ECU. He uploaded a base map and changed some parameters due to the E85 fuel and it started first go. Could then drive it for the tuner to do his thing.

Yes, there is a base map available that should get it running. I was hoping that someone might have a tuned map that would be close and only take some tweaking on the dyno rather than having to start from scratch.
