Re: Adaptronic owners thread
Anthony now works full-time in the mining industry which is a real bummer since he lives in the next suburb over from me and just doesn't have the time or facilities to do any tuning.
When I last used him we had to coordinate a time when he was actually at home, had the time, and could book a dyno that he trusted - it's just too hard.
I plan to use Brad Smith at Turning Point Technology in Pialba for my final tune since he's a long-time Adaptronic specialist.
GT Auto (next to MX5 Plus) in Zillmere can tune Adaptronics (they're primarily Haltech specialists) and their dyno is considered "realistic" (I plan to get a dyno readout from their dyno so that I can compare my car to some of the other cars tuned by them, such as charlie_91's car and magpie's car).

Re: Adaptronic owners thread
I've used Matt Spry (PITS), Bradley Smith (Turning Point) and Dave Lenthall at GT.
They all seemed to be pretty switched on, Matt likes the Adaptronic but it's not something he works with too often so you really need to have all your stuff sorted first (injector latency curve, air corrections, temp sensor calibrations etc) and get him to just do the fuel and timing tables.
Bradley REALLY knows his stuff and has high attention to detail, I have drilled him on all sorts of things and he has always given me a no bullsh*t answer. He is fully MoTeC trained and has all the gear to do a full calibration of sensors. Downside is he is in Hervey Bay and is booked out months in advance, plus you will need to leave the car with him for a few days. He shifts a lot of Adaptronics and knows them very well.
Dave seems knowledgeable but I can't comment his work first hand - my car has been on their dyno for troubleshooting and testing but I wasn't present. Automotive Plus rate him highly. Like Bradley, he can be booked out a fair bit in advance. We have very different opinions of Haltech but I won't hold that against him for Adaptronic tuning!
I did a bit of a write up on my road trip to Turning Point:

Re: Adaptronic owners thread
REALLY appreciate the input. It's a fairly basic build but I'm a complete noob in regards to the whole thing although managed to get the na6 driving decently. This is a brand new motor, never had fuel in it! Running cops and cas, 9.5:1 pistons plus 20thou shave standard BP05 cams with adjustable gears etc. Gt28rs turbo.
Not too crazy. But want someone who I'll take their time, correct my settings and be open to giving advice along the way (i realise it's a very closed business and no one wants to give their secrets away!)
There's no rush (only been 2 years in the build) so a long wait list is ok but having x amount of time allocated before the next one is in is probably not what I need first up. I'll happily pay someone to come check it over before cranking it over for the first time.

Sage wrote:Hey all,
I am another adaptronic 440 select user. Just bought my car on the weekend.
1.6 NA
Big plenum and intake
11:2:1 compression head with valves etc.
Dyno'd at 82kw at the rears at 7400rpm.
Seems like a pretty good tune. Though idle and cruise needs some work. Idle is way to high once warm and has intermittent hesitation at very light throttle 60kmh / 100kmh or so.
Can we post our maps here to do a comparison? or is that frowned upon?
/edit
i should add i am keen to run that Android app posted earlier. What sort of cable to do i need? It looks like a Serial -> Headphone jack on the Select ECU. And then i assume a Serial to Bluetooh Adapter yeah? Can someone confirm?
Thanks!
No comments on my earlier post?

Re: Adaptronic owners thread
Hey Sage,
Look at getting a USB OTG (on-the-go) cable. Then you can use the USB port on your ECU.
I'm running the older e420C, so I've got: Serial (RS232) to USB > USB OTG > Mobile.
As for sharing maps, don't see the problem but you might have more luck on the Adaptronic forums.

Yep that's the way to do it sage. Or you can just use USB if you have a USB OTG compatible device. You will need the correct USB OTG cable (the pins are set differently to a normal on to tell the phone it's a master not a slave)

Re: Adaptronic owners thread
The engine protection functions work well on the Adaptronic; my coolant temps hit 105c on the track and it set my rev limiter to 5,000rpm which I noticed immediately. The stock temp gauge still shows half way on the NB even at that temp!
Very impressed with this feature!

Q: " any idea how to adjust the pins?"
A: If you have a 440 series ECU, you can just connect an OTG USB cable between your Android phone and ECU.

Re: Adaptronic owners thread
You can't adjust pins on USB cables (easily), you just buy the right one for like $3 delivered.

Re: Adaptronic owners thread
A couple of quick questions for you experts on here. 1st question. I believe I have to splice my current temp sensor from the airbox into a temp sensor just in front of the throttle body for my turbo conversion, is that right? Also does the Adaptronic use the stock oil pressure sensor readings for anything or can I remove it completely? Thanks for the assistance guys. I have an 01 NB if it's relevant.

The Adaptronic ECU doesn't use the oil pressure input and I suspect it just passes the signal through to your cluster gauge (the manual should confirm this). If you have a real oil pressure gauge you can remove it.
For a turbocharged application, the AIT sensor at the filter isn't used, you want to measure the air temperature entering the throttle body since it has been heated through the turbo and will be much hotter than the ambient air temperature entering the filter; mounting the sensor anywhere between the intercooler outlet and throttle body is fine. A GM open-air AIT sensor is typically used for this and is wired into the Adaptronic ECU's AIT2 signal input. The WARI software allows you to switch the AIT and AIT2 sensors around so you could simply remove your AIT sensor at the filter and extend/modify the harness to connect the GM sensor to that. This minimises the need for additional wiring and you don't have to figure out how to route the additional wiring from the engine bay to the ECU.

Re: Adaptronic owners thread
The adaptronic can use oil pressure as part of the engine protection functions but you would have to confirm the wiring.
