What are the 3 switches for? Heat seeker missiles, Paintball canon, prime the naws bottle?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Thats right - missiles front, back and sides, especially for those nasty #*&# 4WD\"s that keep running me off the road ..... why can't they see me ???

OK really,
* Auto / Off switch for the power antenna
* Daytime LED Running Lamps
* Fog Lights (now removed)

I don't get how in this modern day and age you can get uber cool head units that play mp3s or movies etc but they don't control the \"automatic\" antenna. :? All my alpines have worked.

well I'm guessing it does have the Automatic function but when you have reception with the antenna down there is no need to make your car look like it's an RC

Depends on the station you listen to. I get horrible reception for FBi, so I wired the antenna back into the unit. Now it's just up whenever the car is on.

Actually most of the time I do not listen to the Radio, I have 4gb of music on the ipod and my DVD player allows me to run an 8gb disc full of mp3's - so why have the antenna going up and down all the time when I rarely use it? ... added bonus ... the antenna will probably last longer than the car will.

Yeah but those head units only raise the antenna when you're listening to the radio not MP3s or CDs. :?

I put this a while ago when the stock stereo finally died. I overcame the empty space by putting in a mazda logo. Did a similar thing in my RX4 previosly but had the RE badge below the stereo instead. :mrgreen: [/img]

I don't actually have my MX-5 yet (should be bringing her home tomorrow) but here is an image of the head unit I had in my Laser.

An absolutely awesome head unit, and should complement pretty much any car interior.

Downsides? It doesn't play MP3's and at $2,099rrp it's not cheap.

But then it's also considered by some consider to be the best sounding head unit on the market..and the build quality is absolutely faultless.

Not great value to all though, because lots of people wouldn't even use half of the tunability it offers.

Pity some bastard broke into the Laser 2 weeks ago and ripped it out...

Most of the functions are accessible via the touchscreen so it's minimalistic in terms of visible buttons but still contains all the functionality. Has a brushed aluminium look so will complement those with a similar interior theme (i.e. not me but meh). Motorised faceplate, multiple backlight colours, and SD card holds more than enough music. :)

muzzy66 that interior looks familiar, I have an old Laser as my daily driver, but it's stock as a rock, although the headunit is slowly going :(

Sell the laser, use the money for upgrades on the '5, and make the '5 the daily drive ;)
