Thanks Juffa, I struggled to pictue it.

Re: Na8 glass rear window demister fault?
OP should also note that while the early NA8 (at least) came wired for a demister, no demister relay was fitted behind the rear inside panel of the boot. The boot (near the top of the battery & base of the electric aeriel) should also be checked to ensure a demister fuse is present & not blown if present. The upshot is that the demister dash light will function, but demister itself wont. See:

Btw, this also contains plenty of info on demisters:

Thanks Paul,
That would explain the low voltage readings that the OP was experiencing.

Just want to say a big thanks to all the helpful info, especially to the member that pointed out that there is a tiny little fuse box hidden behind the battery in the boot. Flipped it open, 2 10a fuses in there. One for the aerial and the other for the "defogger". Sure enough it was blown.
Can't believe there was no info that I could find with Google searching. Huge thanks!! Much appreciated. Works fine now

I am getting a steady 10.10v across the the demister contacts. Simple blow of breath on the glass confirms that it is working.

Well done to all involved in this.
RH, If you haven't done so already ensure that the cut off switch is working as it may have been the cause of the blown fuse.

I can't seem to find a switch back there? Pic is taken above the passanger side drain hole, behind the seat belt tower.

Being a retro install it may not have one but you could make something up if you wanted to. I doubt that the demister would generate enough heat to start a fire but better safe than sorry.

Yeah I am assuming it is a retro fit by the previous owner. I won't worry about the switch. Thanks for the help everyone!
