Re: Camera mounts for motorsport
Looks good PT
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Probably overkill but I found the Official One would flex and is a bit cheap and flimsy.

Re: Camera mounts for motorsport
That looks like it would be sturdy enough but the arm isn't long enough for what I want to do unfortunately.
I bought one of these and it arrived today.

It was more wobbly than anything else I've used and definitely a waste of money.

On my phone so difficult to see what you have, but if not already look at the Ram branded mounts. Not cheap but very good. I used to have a huge selection of arms and mounts for full size handicams fir my work and have mounted the cameras to cars, inside and out, trains, boats, hovercraft and helicopters with no shaking of the images at high speeds.

I also use this stuff, it is very strong and allows you to put a camera almost any where on a car to get some great angle shots

I've ordered one of these: http://tinyurl.com/jvsnnc4
And one of these to make the arm longer to clear the seat: http://tinyurl.com/l7k2x7j
Should have them tomorrow. Will report back once I've tested them.

Don't forget the longer the arm the more the vibration is transmitted to the camera.

Re: Camera mounts for motorsport
I've got my ram mounts fitted up. Holy crap are they solid. This is the view I've achieved but I haven't had a chance to go for a drive yet.

Hopefully it want shake as much, it is certainly the most solid attachment I've tried though.

Re: Camera mounts for motorsport
To reduce shake try and angle it up and not just point it straight out, however a GOPRO more than likely weights less than a Contour+ which I found shakes with the same mount you have.

mounted to full roll bar and can take a video camera and no questions asked by CAMS scruts.
No shake and can be fitted to any part of your roll cage or bar.
I got one in the porker as well as scooter.

Yeah, OMGPHAM (site sponsor) sells them.
You could fit a gopro but you'd need the 1/4 thread to go pro adapter.

Yeah, plus when you roll the car, the camera stays attached and you get awesome footage for later. Top bar, bye bye camera. Priorities!
