As to whether you can retrofit, from pics of various NB8B & NB8C ECUs I've seen there's only the main ECU plug, suggesting that OBDII is integrated into the loom as opposed to remotely plugged into the ECU. So for full functionality of OBDII you're also going to need all the relevant sensors, & this will depend on whether they were already fitted to the slightly earlier NB8B.

Also.. aftermarket ECU systems don't use obd2, correct? Is there any that engine diagnostics can be measured from?
The term is 'data logging' - most will do it, and some will allow 'live' readings and more.
