as stated before 1" (most of them are this size for splits) will fit,
I removed the stock tweeters then used some string/wire to hold my aftermarket ones in the holder, seems to have worked well nearly one year on

I dont really get this

The stock speakers are 5x7 correct?
If so how can you fit 8\" speakers in there without cutting any metal?

I just measured my old stock speakers (been sitting next to me for probably over a year now :? ) and from mounting hole to mounting hole going across the diameter of the speaker, it's 8\".

So although the stock speakers are 5x7, the actual mounts are 8\".

And the 5*7 stock speakers screw into a plastic housing that just happens to be 8\" round to accomodate the optional 8\" Bose speakers in the US.

Trust me, if you select carefully the 8\" ones screw straight in, even using the original holes that the plastic factory housing used to attach to the door. The Phillips and Clearwater speakers fit perfectly, no need to modify anything.

Mine with a thin MDF mount to keep the speaker flush.

I added silicon after this step.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

How do you remove the trim off the door

I tried doing it in the arvo but was a bit worried I might break something

I think my drivers side window needs a bit of oil or something

Its going up slower than the passenger side and also down slower
It also sounds like its struggling when its going up

There's a screw in where the lever opens the door, take that out then the cup around it and put somewhere safe.

A screw in the arm rest thingo, a vertical screw in that little flat bit at the bottom of the arm rest, pop out all the plastic bits along the edge.

The bottom will pop out if you give ti a gentle pull then lift the skin upwards and off the door, be careful not to damage the speaker wires, unplug and place the door skin somewhere safe.

You reminded me to pull my door apart this evening to fix the central locking.

I'll have some \"how to\" door skin removal pics to upload in a little while.

Turn up the bass and do yourself a favour.. an 8\" round is easy to fit.
