Well I got it going (the board not my car) and I've flashed it with the MS2/Extra 2.1.1 firmware using a 12v power supply.

ECU seems to talk to my computer ok but the RPM value keeps flipping from 0 to 60,000rpm. Is that normal operation for when it's not connected to any inputs or have I messed something up?

Gregg, send a PM to Mokesta, ORX626, or Big G.

You are aware of Miataturbo.net?

I've obviously got no idea how to tune this Megasquirt...

The car warms up and is idling ok but the AFR is sitting on 12.1 and the car is spitting fuel out the exhaust. If I blip the throttle it flips around to 17 or so then drops back to 12.1. No change I make seems to bring it closer to 14.7.

I've tried capturing an idling log file with TunerStudio then putting it through VE analyse in MegaLogViewer but it keeps scaling the VE table up. It's currently around 100 for around idling speeds (up from the stock map of 50) and the fuel spitting is getting worse.

Help? :)

EDIT: I did a calibrate for AFR and set it to Wideband Innovate LC-1. I now have AFR's of either 10.4 or 7.8...

Idling rich is ok, and preferable, but that is too rich. Aim for around 14.0:1 AFR at idle.
Don'f forget that changing the spark map also changes the AFR.

If you are making changes to your fuel table, but it still doesnt change your AFR readings, then it may still be running under warm-up settings.

where are you located Jerrah?

Does anyone know how I can stop my MSPNP for my 1.6 from stalling when A/C is on and I disengage from a gear to return to neutral?

I was looking for an A/C control table or inputs but the MS doesn't have such a thing

I live near Yeronga.

I might hit you up on the weekend Saboteur.

The datalogs seem so weird it's almost as if I'm getting wrong data from the wideband. If I start trying to lean out the VE table the car starts to stumble before I see changes in AFR readings.

Have you calibrated your TPS and changed your Idle ADC accordingly? Play around with the figures.
you can also bring up your base idle up in the Idle Control (closed loop) settings.
The PnP should have no problems with idling with AC on, as long as you follow basic steps for initial installation.

Miata Turbo forum has suggested I try a free air calibration of my LC1.

Miataturbo can be VERY helpful or a bunch of jerks.
Free air calibration is a default answer, no intelligent thinking going into telling you that.
If you think your LC-1 is giving bad readings, then yeah, do a free air calibration, but that only solves your LC-1 giving bad readings.
One thing they don't do is share MSQ's, or vex tables.

They all seem to think that they have the best secret tune in the universe that's worth all the tea in China.

Are you home this evening? I could drop by on my way home and see if I can be of any use.

You have PM

The free air calibration gave me much more realistic numbers.

Thanks for the offers guys I will probably need more help with the tune yet.

Important news for South-East Queensland forum members who are using Megasquirt ECU's.

Over the past 10 weeks OMX-596 has been with GT Auto Garage (in Newmarket, Brisbane) to address a number of issues that weren't able to be resolved at the time when the tuning was first undertaken back in February of this year (NB: different tuner). The problems were as follows:
    (1) Poor cold starting
    (2) Unable to hold an idle with the air-conditioning on.
    (3) Unable to start and hold an idle with the air-conditioning.
    (4) Intermittent and random idle hunting irrespective of engine load.

I left the car with them indefinitely so that they would have plenty of time to become proficient in tuning Megasquirt and therefore be able to provide a Mega-squirt tuning service that was desperately needed in South-East Queensland. Well the good news is that all of the four items have been rectified, and the bad news is that there isn't any!  I have left the car with them so that some road testing can be performed and any fine adjustments made.

Further to resolving the above issues they tweaked the tune. The below graph tells the story. 8)
    Maximum boost: 6psi (non-intercooled)
    Peak rear wheel hp: 150.6rwhp @ 6,500rpm
    Peak engine torque: 188.1Nm @ 3,100rpm

The real kicker is the virtually flat torque curve (and I use the word "curve" very loosely  ) with no less than 185Nm available from 2,500rpm through to 5,250rpm. Which generates a virtually straight power curve....and I use the word "curve" very loosely once again! It just makes for such a sweet drive! 8)

This is a video of the power run.....

In other news, MX-5 Plus Service and GT Auto Garage have now combined to offer an even wider range of products and services to the MX-5 fraternity. More information regarding this alliance will be published early in 2010. So stay tuned! :D

Cheers,
Danny

Good news indeed.
Ever since my new *ahem* intake, I have no A/C.
Thanks Danny.
