Is my MX5 OBDII?

Postby Sirois » Sat Jul 20, 2024 7:31 pm

Hi everyone,

I have a 2003 NB.

I have found the OBDII port in the fuse area under the steering wheel.
However the car also has that grey diagnostics port in the engine bay.

I was expecting only one or the other, so just wondering if having an OBDII port means the car is OBDII?

Yes, it's OBDII, but the diagnostic box is still play as well. I'm not sure if they cover the same things, or if there's a split of systems.

I know I've used the diagnostic box to examine an ABS fault, but I have an aftermarket ECU so couldn't use OBDII and can't say if it would have given the same information or not.
