Electric aerial HELP

Postby wasp47 » Sat Dec 16, 2017 2:13 pm

I was at a friends place this morning and he closed the roller door when my SE was only half way in, stupid XXXX.
Anyway, it snapped the electric aerial mast. Can I buy a new mast and if so, where from.
Cheers
Steven

There's lots of people who replace their awesome streamlined retractable aerial with a rubber S2000 style phallus, there should be plenty for sale on ebay.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Don't think mast is sold separately - best option is probably to buy a used one from the forum, or the FB MX5 parts page or ebay or Gumtree.

This was simply too much of a challenge for me to resist. Mazda lists the aerial mast as "pole, antenna" part number B05A-66-A30. Amayama has it in stock, lised as "Antenna" for USD21.83 :D

Is that shipped? If plus shipping, that could be US$35 or A$47, then there's the dicking around dismantling & reassembling the aerial. Picked up a good used complete NB8 electric aerial for A$40 for my last Clubman project that needed a replacement aerial.

Personally I'd just go out and buy a stubby. I just wanted to see if it was possible to get an original. I used to help my father restore jags and MGs. He would fall asleep in the afternoon with a parts catalogue on his lap. Maybe part searching interests are genetic.

Agree with just buying the stubby antenna - looks better and your car no longer looks like a remote control car from yester-year with an exaggeratingly tall antenna.

I got rid of mine after not being patient enough for a roller-door to fully open and drove under it when it cleared the the windshield, completely forgetting that the bloody antenna was fully erect when the accessories were on - STUPID bloody design, the antenna should NOT have been higher than the windshield IMO.

Ah, when parts could take months to obtain & restorations could take years!
