Hey guys,
I just finished up removing my OEM foglights from my JDM NA6 that I am now selling.
I have plans to install them in my new car, but I am just wondering if I will need anything else to install them in a car that didn't have them from factory.
From my knowledge, I thought that all Mk1's had the fog light loom preinstalled. I read somewhere that the connector for the foglight switch is preinstalled behind a blank near the steering column. I've taken photos of the wiring for the fogs itself, aswell as where they disconnect.
My question to you guys is, will this setup just connect straight into my new chassis the same way I disconnected it? Or will i need to remove the entire wiring harness for the foglights? I don't really feel like ripping up a wiring loom for a car i'm about to sell...
Any insight is greatly appreciated
Cheers

So the new car is another MX5?

Within the NA6 there were generally differences from model variant to model variant, year to year, & market to market.

As far as I'm aware only the JDM na6 had the plugs for the fog lights already in the loom. When I installed them in my AUDM car I had to run a wire from a switch in the cabin to the relay in the engine bay to get them to work.

Most likely yes, another MX-5

What relay if you don't mind me asking? Or did you install that separately?

Re: NA6/NA8 OEM Foglight Removal & Install Questions
The factory foglights I got came with a factory wiring harness which included a relay to power the lights. The switch in the cabin activated the relay. Only problem was there was no plug in the engine bay for me to plug the loom into so instead I ran a wire from the switch in the cabin to the fog light loom as well as provided it with a 12V source that switched on with the standard lights.

Re: NA6/NA8 OEM Foglight Removal & Install Questions
I did the same as Alex, except using jaycar relays and wires (generic foglamps on my car)
I wired the relay in mine so that the fogs can only work if the parking lamps are on (or the main headlights/high beams)
That way if I forget to switch off the fogs they'll turn off when I turn the normal lights off.
And the factory light warning beeper works with them.
