where is the best place to wire in a kill switch

Postby Maxie Red rocket » Tue May 05, 2015 1:11 pm

Hi all,
Just bought a 1990 NA and want to keep it. Years ago i had an old Torana and wired in a kill switch by grounding the ignition coil. Where would the best place to wire in a kill switch so the robbers won't rob the red rocket.

Basics are (for switch positioning)

Make it hard to trace the wires (better if you can use it to cut off two circuits)

Make the switch hard to hide

Don't tell people about it

Quite a lot of the old car guys use existing bolts etc and wire them via relays to have a very tiny current, they then use their body to conduct the power (like a touch lamp)
I've seen one where to start the car you need to rest your bare ankle skin onto a bolt head on the trans tunnel, and then touch a finger to one of the bolts for the shifter surround.

worked perfectly, both contacts were invisible, and even then you still had to know which of the 8 shifter bolts it was.

Kit on fleabay which does that-use a metal key and touch a bolt. Bit expensive for a basic thing like that.
How can I DIY it?
