NA Original Key Blank

Postby chamcham196 » Mon Apr 20, 2015 8:16 pm

hey guys,

So my MX-5 came with only a single key and it is a copy so i'm after a couple of spares. I've searched for some original key blanks with the black plastic and Mazda logo and have found some here:

http://parts.arlingtonmazda.com/product ... 01%29.html

Unfortunately the postage ($42) for a $10 key is super excessive.. i was hoping if anyone knew of a cheaper alternative?
Or if anyone knows a better solution?

Cheers Cameron

Try www.amayama.com

I recently purchased soft top latches and striker plates for $280 delivered. Just the latches from a local sponsor are $320 plus postage.

They aren't quick but if you're in no hurry it's a great option.

If your not fussed about the black top you can buy clip on covers in various colours, and get the keys cut at your local key cutter for about $4-00 each, that what i went for

or there is this

Red Dragon,

I've seen those transponder keys on ebay and because they are newer i wasnt sure if the actual blank key part was the same size? just judging from the picture the key seems shorter?

That was my opinion alsojust looking at the picture, but you never know
A proper locksmith might be the place to go.
Since i was only interested in having a spare key i went for the local key cutter just like a front door key

this one is also available through Amayama.com.

I cant recommend these guys enough for good pricing, good packaging and reasonably fast shipping. I have grabbed a lot of little trim pieces gaskets and random parts with no dramas at all from Amayama.

The ebay one posted is missing the center groove and wont fit NA locks.
