did you ever solve this problem? , I have the same issue with my sr20 conversion, I have a s13 gearbox which has a digital speed sender and cant find a way to get it to work with my cable drive mx5 speedo
that ECD-100 looks like a good idea, just would need a custom cable made with a gm or ford fitting on the end.

Re: SR20DET transplant
Ordered ECD, should get it this week.
Will need a custom cable as none of those included look like they will fit the MX5.

Re: SR20DET transplant
I now have a working speedo. Dakota box, custom cable, bit of wiring and I can now tell that I'm speeding!
Now to figure out tacho....I hear wiring direct to a coil may do something?

I think the NA tach runs from the coil yeah, can't remember what wire though.
Aftermarket tachos usually run from the coil and have a switch to select how many cylinders the engine has (Since the coil fires a different number of times per rotation depending on the cyls)

Be very careful about wiring the OEM tacho "direct to a coil" it may well do something! do some solid research first.

Great to hear speedo is working!
Yeah, the two 1993-1995 NA8 coils have four pins each, one of which from each coil provides the tacho signal.

Yes, I am wary of wiring direct to a coil (may = kaboom!).
Note that I don't have MX5 coils anymore, there are 4 Nissan COPs.
