Hi guys,
A few weeks ago I asked about audio set ups and now I've decided to go down the path of the double-din touchscreen unit and the slim subwoofer.
I'm looking at the Pioneer AVH-X3600DAB as it has rear USB, Bluetooth and can interface with my iPhone quite nicely.
As for the slim subwoofer+amplifier, I'm at a loss. On ebay there's Fusion subs for roughly $150 and I've seen a Cadence one at JB Hi-Fi for $300. It might be a niche area and that explains the pricing compared to 12 inch subs but I'd like more info and recommendations from the MX5 community!

Same thing I say to every audio question on this forum. Go to a car audio shop, take a cd with music you're familiar with/like, listen to a few options, buy what sounds good/fits budget.
Think of it like buying a car based solely off what people on the internet said it drove like, compared with actually test driving something.

But the Internet is valid and real!
Haha kidding, that's true. I should probably head to a meet as well and hear the other fives too.

Consider upgrading the front speakers and an amp too, made a huge difference for me (no sub, yet)
Look at the Focal slim subs with an amp channel for the front speakers.
Sub and amp for all speakers in one slim box is a win.

I've got a kick slimline 12" 300WRMS sub that I had mounted on the parcel shelf. I just upgraded to high a high end image dynamics setup so have this setup for sale. PM me if you're interested or would like to see some pics to give you an idea of install options.

For what it's worth, I have a Focal BUS25 and I can't recommend it highly enough. All reviews on Google are very positive too. Not cheap at $599 and I think it's been superceded by the IBUS 2.1, but great value if you can find one second-hand.

Also have a Focal Bus25 behind passenger seat. Love it. Running with some Focal Speakers and single din Alpine Head unit.

Either the iBus2.1 or the DSA500RT depending on budget:
iBus2.1:

DSA:
http://www.focal.com/en/amplifiers-ampl ... 50112.html
Attached the review for the DSA as it’s more complex and includes a processor too.
The DSA unit is a fantastic bit of kit and perfect for mx5's.
3 channels compact D class amplifier (2x65W RMS + 1x165W RMS)
Thank Marty from FHRX for this.
Richard.
