Mongoose alarms - disable automatic immobilizer.

Postby mattyredlocks » Sat Jan 11, 2014 6:18 pm

Hi guys,

I just figured out how to disable the automatic immobilizer in my car (fitted with a pre-2009 Mongoose M60), and since i haven't seen how to do it anywhere, I thought I'd post here.

As most of you with a Mongoose M60 or M80 will know, there's a range of programming options to customise how your alarm works. It's detailed in this document, if you're curious: http://mongoose.com.au/vehicle-installa ... amming.pdf

To change something, you unlock your car, leave the drivers door open, and switch the ignition from off to on the number of times corresponding to the option you want to change (that's off to on, not off to start), then it'll beep telling you which one you've selected which you can switch on or off with the buttons on your remote. Big button (or left) for on, little one (or right) for off.

Now for the important bit: The automatic immobilizer (you know, the one that switches on if you unlock the car but don't start it for 30 seconds? or turn off the car but don't lock it for 30 seconds?) - it's option 11 on pre-2009 models (two button remote) and option 9 on post-2009 models (three button remote.)

Switching off the auto-immobilizer was possibly the best idea ever in the history of time. No longer do I set the alarm off getting into the car at the shops! The downside is that you have to remember to lock your car. For me, that's an OK trade-off.
Because reasons.
