Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and own a 1990 NA6. I realise this has been discussed numerous times but thought I'd create a new post based on my scenario. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have just purchased a double din stereo (JVC KW-R500) and will be attempting to install it myself. My dash is completely stock and still has the original radio with tape deck and a black cover plate below. For this to work, I understand that I need to purchase:
1. A late NA centre tombstone that has the true double din opening.
2. The appropriate adapters for the wiring.
I'm hoping the supplied cage will attach directly to the back of the new tombstone? At this stage I'm intending to connect the stereo to the existing door speakers (they are worn out but will be replaced in due course). Is there anything I have forgotten or need to consider?
Also, regarding door speakers, I'd be interested in what people have used as replacements. I don't care too much for huge bass or volume, just quality sound. FYI, I am intending to still mount the speakers behind the door skins.
Thanks again,
Dave
