Cigarette lighter power?

Postby magenb » Tue Jun 12, 2012 4:50 pm

The Cigarette lighter seems to have lost power as in GPS etc are no longer working from it, but still work in my wifes car. I've checked the fuse which was fine, but replaced it any way. I have not noticed anything else not working, all the lights/radio inside are working fine. Any ideas?

Possibly a contact is bent on either the lighter socket or the GPS charger.

Does the cigarette lighter heat up?

check the power in wire / terminal to see if power is getting to the plug- you can do this with a simple test light or a multimeter.
