Getting wiring into the boot of an NA

Postby Noddycar » Sun Jan 15, 2012 6:02 pm

Hi all

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I did a search and could not find anything. Could someone please provide some hints on getting power from under the steering wheel to the boot? I had an alarm and central locking kit installed some time ago, but did not connect an electric boot release. I am about to install that, but as it links to the alarm module, I need to route power from front to back. I cannot see any method of getting the wiring through without ripping up carpets etc (don't know where to start!).

Well, just got lucky! I looked up an American Miata website and saw a reference to removing the carpet directly behind the drivers seat. I only popped the top corner and when I went to the boot I could see light! I have got the wiring into the cabin, now just working out whether it is best to try to lift the carpet on the drivers side and run it under the sill, or try to re-route it via the console..... Time to go pull some stuff apart!
