NB Heater not working

Postby devski » Mon Mar 21, 2011 2:18 pm

Hello All.

I recently got my first mx6 (99 NB) and i've just discovered the heater isn't working.

The dealer I bought it off will have to pay for it to be fixed but I just wanted to check if there is any little things that could be wrong before I go booking it in somewhere.

I've had a look at the fuse box and couldn't really make heads or tails of if the heating was fused or not. The fan works fine all though it almost sounds blocked somewhere behind the dash :\ very noisy.

Any ideas?

Thanks

hmm sounds wierd though your are waiting for the car to warm up thoroughly? as the heater core warms the air via the engine coolant.

other than that not sure but if the fan is heaps noisy does the ac work?
Can you remember your first drive?

The wires that connect the temperature sometimes slip off the end of the actuator arm thingy (technical terms) if you stick your head in the drivers footwell and look up towards the back of the heater/fan/AC panel you might be able to see it.

So its at the mechanics. Heater Core has been bypassed. So who ever had it had the heater core sh*t itself and didnt bother getting it fixed.
Swell.
I found an mx5 club of Australia sticker on the car as well so it was probably someone on here!

Where are you located? I've change heater cores before can be a PITA.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
