NB8B won't start, maybe immobiliser

Postby storms_of_fate » Wed Mar 09, 2011 4:45 pm

Hi Guys, just wondering if anyone has had experience in an NB8B (the Titanium Edition this particular car) which does not start, no fuel pump, no spark. The battery is fine. There was an aftermarket alarm immiliser fitted, which has now been removed but I think the car has a factory immobiliser too? Anyone has any ideads on this? cam sensor have been replaced last year as well.

Hey Karl, not saying it's not the immobiliser, but sounds more like the EGI relay in the engine bay fuse box. The relay is the cube shaped one which is black on the NA & green on at least some NBs.

Does the starter motor try to start the engine, but it just wont kick over?

If so, its (most probably) the EGI relay. I've had this problem before.

Buy a new one, unplug the old one, plug in the new one, and away you go!

(I wish I knew this before I pulled my roll bar out to get to my fuel pump lol)

Thanks guys, this isn't my car but I've passed on the infor for my mate to try. But yes the starter motor tries to start the engine but does not tick over.

No power to fuel pump, no power to spark plugs, no power to injectors, no power to the sensors.

If this is it, it sure beats screwing around with the ECU! :)

No such problem in my NA though, 173 thousand KM now, original engine, no leaks anywhere... much LOL
