ECU Error code
Just got the engine back in the SP and am having trouble starting the car. We are getting an ECU error 'ECU Signal High' after about 3 seconds running sweetly, accompanied by valve train noise - like it is linked to the VVT system in some way. Any clues from you ECU experts out there?

Sorry no real solution.. but you did run it without fuel to build up the oil pressure first, recon there's enough oil for the VVT, could it build an air bubble that would need to be bled?
The intake cam has a sensor on it for the timing (firewall side of engine) hasn't it? Is that plugged in and around the right way etc?

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Will check Okibi... I'm about to head off for my holiday for a month... will have to wait for my return I fear. Thanks for the clues... it definitely had oil pressure, started and ran then produced error code.

Just a correction... the error code states "ECU Voltage High". It runs poorly till you clear the code, then it is good for a minute or two then goes back to rough...
Cheers,

Alternator is still the same one? ... I don't know what would give that signal but i'd be making sure the alternator was all plugged in property and a plug hadn't popper out and i'd remembered to attach the "earth"? strap at the back of the engine near the heater hoses.
If it's working fine for a minute or so what could be triggering it? ecu swapping from cold idle to normal? radiator fan tripping it?
