Drivers side rear brake light broken

Postby Oni » Tue Mar 03, 2009 10:11 pm

Hi all :)
I was told today that my drivers side brake light isnt working, i pulled the bulb and it looked like it wasnt blown and it also goes on when i have the park lights on. I noticed its sort of 2 lights in one globe, i guess ones the parking light and the other is the brake to over power the parking one. I had a look at the wires going into the connection and they all had no movement in them so i dont think its a wiring thing but im not too sure. Just thinking about it i will try swapping in the bulb from the other side and see how that goes, it might be a blown globe but tricky to tell. Ive also checked the fuse and that was ok.

Sort of pointless post untill i can try swapping the bulbs lol ill report back tomorrow.

removing the globe from the other side, and plugging it in would take about 30 seconds. how long did it take you to type this post??

stop tail twin filament. A filament may be broken- inspect by eye. If the bulb is ok ( try the swap ) then check the brake light connector to see if it is live ( test light) when someone pushes the brake pedal down. You can buy a bulb at Bursons who seem to stock Philips which is likely to be a good product.
