How to change interior light on NA6?

Postby Juffa » Wed Feb 11, 2009 9:25 am

ok, a quick search on the big forum found...

and...

The outer lens pops off, pry from below

This is what it looks like if you take the whole unit out of the dash, but you shouldn't have to do that just to replace the bulb.

As a side note, you can improve the lighting by pulling the whole unit out and turning it upside down, i.e. having the light at the top and the switch at the bottom

Hope this helps.

Nice work Juffa. In the warm weather the acrylic is probably fairly flexible but if cold it is not hard to break the retaining tabs.

I measured the bulb .. seems like 27mm long but there aren't any festoons around 26-28mm as far as I can see on ebay.
Any ideas?
(going for the LED type ones since they last longer)

31mm seems to be the most common size but I doubt they would fit.

Take the bulb with you and head for the nearest super cheap or auto barn...or even Kmart. A festoon should last for years. That should light up your life while you look for a LED version...have you checked the jaycar online store?

Jaycar have a 31mm for $4.95. I just measured mine and as you said around 27-28mm, I reckon 31mm should fit, just bend the contacts in the light outwards a couple of mm.

I actually broke my globe getting it out to measure....guess I will have to head down to Jaycar at lunch time and check their LEDs out.

festoons are made to standards and you should have no problem in buying a replacement. Hella and Narva sell all the standard bulbs. Just remove the old and compare to the standard bulbs offered. Bursons, Repco all stock automotive bulbs. I have not looked up wattage but a 31X10mm 12v10w is offered by Hella and that is called an N1210. They also offer a L12/5w but this is 37X10.5.
