Hi guys,
I have just purchased a new soft top which comes with a glass window instead of my old plastic one. It doesn't come with the wiring loom so I am unable to hook up the demister. Can anyone tell me what I need to do in order to hook it up? Can I just run two cables from the ends of the demister to the connection in the car... and if so how do I tell which end to put it into? Or do I need to purchase the wiring loom... I have tried mx5mania but they aren't sure if they can get that part in.

If you can't get anywhere here that can provide assistance, give the guys at MX5 Mania a call (see above of this website for the link).
They're always ready to help. I'm sure, David and co can provide some useful advise.

Just make sure you get cut-off switch wired up properly too - the bit that disables the demister when the roof is lowered.
Or, don't bother with it. If you have a/c it's about 10x faster using that instead of the demister.

That's Mr Q =P Yeah Mx5 Mania where the first guys I tired. I might just them a follow up call tomorrow to see if they have had any luck.
I have AC but it is missing parts =P LOL. And it also needs to be regassed. At the moment all my A/C button does it make the revs go higher when I press it =P I have the demister button so I'm assuming if I put the wires in correctly it will turn off when I turn off the switch. Tempted to just get some wires and plug them in and see what happens but I don't wanna damage the electricals =P

Look on Miata.net in the garage section. It MIGHT be in the bit about hardtops but I seem to remember photos identifying the different connectors for the demister.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

The demister is also useful for getting rid of mist on the outside of the car which the air con obviously won't reach. I live in a bit of a frost hollow, so there's always a bit of misting on the back on cold mornings.

Oh thanks for that Okibi!
Pigtails
This cable attaches to the defroster element in the hardtop and allows it to connect to the defroster connector on the rear deck. More information is available below.
NA Pigtail
Part Number N007-67-060A, MSRP $119.20

Hurray! I'll give Mx5 mania the part number and see what they come up with... $150 is a lot just for a demister though... o.O.
This is an extract about the wiring diagram...
Here's the wiring diagram/pinout for the connector:
NA wire NB wire Purpose
Red/White Black/Red Relay through element
Yellow Black/White Switch through relay
Black Black Ground
