It wasn't MX5 Parts or a forum sponsor. PM me for info.

Short answer - no.

Full story - the guy I bought it from is advertising that he has Audiolink but sends an Xcarlink device. Although the NSW Office of Fair Trading are taking an interest, I don't deal with people that falsely advertise  so I sent it back.......and now Australia Post has lost it  .

Reason i ask is they are now listed on another mazda forum in australia as "audiolink/xcarlink" devices and are being sold for $100 (forum rates)

PM me if you want details.

If that's the Ozmazda forum then it's the same guy.......he claims they are the same. I can find nothing to support that claim :? . Oh and the "audiolink/xcarlink" words are a recent addition to his first post because originally it was just Audiolink.

JBT... how about this site. Cheaper than MX5Parts UK:

I've been wondering about the RPM Store. That's US dollars I suppose which makes it about AUD $140 + postage..........but it is Audio Link and not some other cr@p being passed off as the same product.

What's funny JBT is that some of the pics of Audio Link devices look EXACTLY the same as the Xcarlink ones. The earlier versions of Audiolink where a little more squarish with the sides depressed in... yet the newer ones have the corners cut off like the xcarlink ones.

I'm starting to think they may actually be the same product. Very confused.

I'd accept that they are the same if anyone can show evidence. The pr1ck from whom I bought the USB adapter would not/could not and became unco-operative and insulting when I asked why I was sent Xcarlink when I specifically enquired about Audio Link . Xcarlink are made by Toden as far as I can deduce and Audiolink has a registered trademark logo and model number on the product - Xcarlink do not. I've searched the internet and can find nothing to show that they come from the same manufacturer. I can't find a direct link to Audio Link (except for the cable makers) either.

Some places specifically sell Xcarlink and some Audio Link. I emailed MX-5 Parts and asked them whether the products were Audio Link or Xcarlink but their reply did not answer the question - whether that was intentional or not is anyone's guess.

I've pretty much lost interest now and will never be buying anything through the internet anyway as I have lost all trust. I've only bought 4 things and 2 (both from Australian sites) were abysmal failures.

I'll either get the optional MP3 head unit or wait for the 20 AE and get one of them. Surely that'll have an MP3 compatible unit - which I will check out myself and not believe the salesman's lies.

Rant over - Merry Christmas :D
