removing antena from nb8b

hey guys

can anyone tell me how to remove the antena from an nb8b?
its motorised and i try doin the top but its like screwed in shut and ididnt wanna damage the surrounding areas and stuff. i just wanna replace it with a stubby antena

I think the chrome peice on the outside unscrews along with some bolts in the boot.

Replacement mast is about $60 from Mazda.
