SWMBO and I went for a nice little Mothers Day run this morning and found one VERY scary road.

Left Narangba up to Peachester, turned onto Bald Knob (????) rd and followed up to Melany. Stopped for coffee and then headed the back way back to Woodford.

But me being a nosy bugger I turned around at the bottom of the range and headed back to the Bellthorpe turn off.

Well talk about a MX5 road, very twisty bloody narrow and a few!!! blind crest thrown in. Then you get to the \"T\" intersection and turn left back towards Woodford. You know your in for a fun run when the sign at the top of the range tells you that the road is closed on school afternoons 2.45 to 4.00 so the school bus can come UP the range road.
Took it easy and really enjoyed a pleasant no other car encountered run.

So if your in for a bit of adventure & fun take a drive but take it easy, no armco and big trees and drops on the side. It is one of those roads where you don't have to drive fast to enjoy. Also saw 2 evil knievels at the bottom of the range. Funny enough we didn't see any bikers!!

Be very careful when going there....Big police hot spot...On the road looking for drug deals and in the air (Helicopter) looking for tomato bush plantations...

We were driving back from Melany a few weeks ago and the road we normally use was closed. Rather than turn back I took the turnoff to Belthorpe. A great drive and we did not encounter any other traffic. Do agree that the road is a little narrow. Did not see any tomato plants!!

We drove this yesterday, albeit in the Jimny...

One of the few roads where you actually have to pay attention to the 20km/hr reccomended speed for the corners!

Not the sort of road you drive fast, but a great drive anyway...

This is a fabulous and very unknown bit of road. During the week it is closed in one direction to allow the school bus down in the morning, then closed the other way to let it back up in the afternoon. Very steep with hairpin bends. Excellent in an mx. A few years ago I hired a v8 Mustang convertable and took this road. Too much for the Mustang, overheated and just didn't like it! It goes through stunningly beautiful tall straight trees, with lots of bell birds chimeing away. A road made for an MX. Don't go too fast though, or it will kill you!

I did it heading down a couple of weeks ago in the NA!! Prefer the run up!

'Pirate' drove my NA up last year, insisted on sitting around 6500rpm + all the way whilst I sat terrified in the passenger seat!!

You ever seen the mess cowdung makes when hit at 7000rpm in 3rd? That was on the flat stuff once past the top!

Oh I love this road!! Much better now after roadworks in the past couple of years after the floods, bigger safety concrete barriers, I'm sure so you don't get scared looking down!

It was one of the roads on the NatMeet 2014 day runs that just a few people took the opportunity to drive due to the sh1t weather on 13/14 April.
