If you live in Melbourne and need a quick fix, get to Sassafras before 7:00am and go down the Mountain Hwy towards the City. The surface is lovely and smooth. Lots of tight curves and a few straights to get the speed up again. There are bicycles, but most are coming up the hill. You can stay within the speed limit and still have a lot of fun.

The Ozmazda forum has used this several times and its on the cards for this forums' weekly meet group to use as an alternative to going up the mountain from Upper Ferntree Gully
