Braidwood to Batemans Bay rd. This is a great twisty fast road. Not one for those who get car sickness.

I'm not such a fan to be honest. I mean it's fun and all, but always thousands of people.

Actually had a really good run home just after lunch on Boxing Day last week. Saw 3 cars going my direction between the round-about leaving Batemans Bay and the top of the mountain, always caught them just before an overtaking lane. I was in my girlfriend's Prelude, not my NA, so it wasn't as fun as it could have been though

I'm doing this run every couple of weeks or so. I've given up driving the MX5 on it and I'm not feeling entirely safe in the ute either. Too many SUV drivers, white knuckled and eyes bulging with terror, careening out of control down the mountain. Not to mention log trucks with 40 tonnes of stringybark swaying like a giant pendulum on the jinker behind. There's not enough plod there if you ask me.
I'm hoping to do a new deal on the ideal vehicle for this road now.
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/tanks-never-fired-in-anger/story-e6frg8yo-1111117494039 42 tonnes each, powered by a 37.4 litre V-10 MTU diesel engine, seems about right. The 105mm cannon could be useful back-up protection against incompetents in BMW X5s too.

It has been a LONG while since I drove this road, but I know they were planning on paving the section from Braidwood to Nowra. Did they ever actually do that?

Sealing the road from Nowra to Nerriga (Main Road 92) is still a work in progress but will be finished this year. Currently heavy roadworks for 2.6km near Sassafras. It'll be an excellent driving road when finished, although the best bit (the mountain pass north of Nerriga) is already finished. There's still a long stretch of flat dirt between Nerriga and Braidwood which is not scheduled for upgrade, as far as I'm aware.
