Great road from Brisbane to Coffs Harbour?

Postby Mr Starlet » Wed Dec 19, 2007 12:37 pm

Hi everyone, I'm looking at doing a road trip to Coffs Harbour this Xmas / new year break, will be passing through Byron Bay, Ballina etc, just wondering if anyone know of some good MX5 roads I could take.

Cheers

Hey I'm heading down that way just before xmas, let me know what date you're leaving.

I love taking Teven Rd near Ballina to bypass all the congestion and it's alot of fun for a quick little break from the rest of a very boring drive.
Turn off just south of the Maccadamia Castle at Knockrow (turning right) just as the road veers round to the left and there's an overtaking lane abotu to form from memory. Drive along there until you get to a steep downwood hill (about 5kms) and take either the left turn just before or just after the little bridge. The second one is Teven Rd (which they both form later on) whereas the other I cant remember but is much more enjoyable :)

Also there is another short cut that skips Grafton and goes out near Wolli but only taken it once. Not the greatest road but still something to break the trip up with.

*couldn't get it to highlight the whole route but you get the idea*

Arh no worries, yeah I headed down this arvo, took that road but was a bit too ambitous and locked up one of teh fronts coming into the t intersection at the end. Oh and I love the 10km/h one car at a time bridge! you'll see what i mean :)

This is a great diverson road but a word of caution, treat it with respect as many fatal accidents have occured on this by-pass. Just do the limit or under and enjoy a great short cut.It will save you about 30mins on your trip as you don't go through Ballina. :D :D

Btw, don't be surprised to see trucks( the size of AJs) using this short cut

Yeah as Terry said just watch it cause there's a mill or mine or something a rather halfway along with lots of trucks however this time of year \"shouldn't\" be too bad.

Great road from Brisbane to Coffs Harbour?

Postby Mr Starlet » Sat Nov 01, 2008 10:25 am

Hi all, I'm at Coffs Harbour once again and was just curious if there's any mx5s "MUST DRIVE" roads I could dedicate my day for.

Cheers

Sorry to come in a little late (i just joined the forum) but an absolute classic is the drive up the mountain from Bellingen to Dorrigo. Past waterfalls and through heritage rainforest with lots of "interesting" winding bits :-)
