Galston gorge is the best place near me in the car and on the bike.

It is ... but the chances of getting a clear run through there are slim to none. :(

I've got clear runs on the way down before, at about midnight it was still fun

i think it's a bit safer at night i know how stupid that sounds but it's easier to tell if there is another car around the corners as you can see the reflections from their lights before you get to them, wasn't going very fast as i'm not that familiar with the road

loved the sounds that you can hear as you dríven next to those cliff faces, engine noise reflected right back at you

only problem for me was on the way back there was a van struggling on the uphill, never got out of second and there is no way i was going to try and overtake him either

edit: thought i had seen this one before

I had a go before as well, once with David driving (very scary), and once by myself (even scarier lol).

How wicked and nasty are those hairpins??? Makes me almost want to handbrake drift into them, then jump off, Initial D style

Initial D style just like the EVO's right
bounce bounce bounce
or
through barrier and landing on roof
after all in Initial D it's only the guys who don't know what they are doing that use the handbrake

Gee, it feels like more corners than that doesn't it?

There's a nursey on the other side we used to goto in my uncles truck, used to get the thing on 3 wheels round some of the tighter corners, hehe...... arh good times :)

but seriously it's one of those places where you really don't need to be breaking the speed limit to enjoy the drive.
