Was searching through the forums for any reference for Akuna Bay and found it was lacking in praise for this nice stretch of road.

Clicky

This is a very nice almost untamed stretch of road from Terry Hills. Starting from Mona Vale Rd, you take a left onto McCarrs Creek Rd and continue on Coal and Candle Drive.

This road is a great cruise, just do not take it likely. I have been in a Clio while Upside down on one of the hair pins. So be safe and enjoy it

No its been tamed since early 07. Some smooth parts now and hardly any bumps. Its starting to become a boy racer road, a few youtube Videos are up and that is just going to exasperate things.

Still a nice little quick bang for buck trip in metro sydney

Every summer the NSW club used to do a sunset run through there and then on to dinner. I think it was one of the better runs the club did. Pity it doesn't happen any more.

I made the that run just two nights ago. It's an awesome stretch of twisting sprawls and some fairly decent road surfacing.
Though just watch one of the early turns (when you're coming from Church Point area) - the road sign doesn't really give a good indication of how tight the turn is, and it's a wicked hairpin. Also a possum with a death wish ran out just infront of me and (thanks to the Miata) i only just avoided him.
Still, when you've gone no one else around and it's a quiet night, there is no place I'd rather be

I live in Frenchs forest so I do that run every couple of weeks

I still think im a noob at it and dont push it too hard

Definately true that is has become a boy-racer ground where everyone thinks they own it
But even at a steady pace it is a great quick route and has good spots for Photo shoots.
and a couple of Good BBQ areas in McCarrs creek

I used to do this road a lot, but havent been for a while. Like STM said, the last time i went it was getting seriously bumpy, so that turned me off a bit. Also had some close calls with a wallaby or 2 over the years.

Also used to combine it with a run up the West Head Rd for something a bit more flowing (just make sure to get back to the gates before they shut). Legend has it that in the 1990's a McLaren F1 was written off on that road. Apparently the boss of Coca Cola Amital was overseas at the time, and his mechanic decided to take the Macca for a spin (literally).
