THE MX5 ROAD TRIP! BRIS - SYD - MELB and Back again!

Well, i've been threatening for some time now to grace the southern lands, and the time has finally come. Yes, it's smack bang in the middle of silly season, however, when you have time off, you take it!

Here is how the calender is shaping up so far.

27/12 - 6am departure from Brisbane. Arrive sometime in the evening in SYDNEY.

28/12 - Old Pac, maybe some other famous driving roads around the place - I will need some tour guides though... Hopefully a meal of some sort with as many forumites as possible.

29/12 - 6am departure ffrom Sydney. Arrive sometime in the evening in MELBOURNE.

30/12 - (Stupidly early, to beat the traffic) Great Ocean Road 8) Again, I will need some tour guides... Hopefully a meal of some sort with as many forumites as possible! Later on - sightseeing...

31/12 - The Spurs. Hopefully a quiet ale or two to celebrate the New Year!

1/1/07 - 6am Departurefrom Melbourne. Drive all day and see where we get to.

2/1 - Arrive home in BRISBANE.

Please add your input if anything I have written isn't going to work. If anyone has some floorspace they are willing to lend that would also be good, as a lot of hostels are fully booked or require a minimum of 3 nights stay... :x Or if you know of any nice and small (read:budget) B&Bs please let us know.

This a week-long MX5 run for us, so the idea is to meet as many of you guys and gals as possible. I do realise it's the silly season though, I just hope you can find some time somewhere to pop out any say hello on my way past!

Let the fun begin!

MMMAAAATTTEEEE!!!!!!!

I've gotta be in Sydney for a wedding on the 30th, and am driving down there.... Was thinking of going on the 29th, or maybe even the 28th with a stop over. Then, I'm going to be in Sydney until at least the 3rd. Not too sure when I'm coming back at this stage, but won't be too far from the 3rd.

Anyrate, how firm are your dates Boags?? Would be good to tag along either on the way down or way back, or both. The Sydney drives could be a definate goer for me too, but will have plenty to do while I'm down there so can't make too many promises.

Let me know what you reakon Boags. Maybe PM might be better, but a definate possibility!

:D :D

Unfortunately, we start work again on the 3rd, so have to be back and unpacked by then. :frown: Drive down with us the 27th! Stay a few days in Sid-o-nee!

Monsqueek - I did have an offer of a bed a while back, but if the dates don't suit him then I might just take you up on that offer! 8)

boagsy........28th is a working day i believe.....can't promise anything but i'lll try to be there. The wife has the social calender packed.

on a side note I could prolly only do it late at night but we'll have to behave. As there have been plenty of patroll cars spotted on the old road at night. & only too happy to stop groups of cars & harras them a little.

another nice road is Mc carres Creeck road. Not as long. Nicely sealed now minus all the bumps it used to sport.

where abouts in Syndney will you be staying?

I know it's a long shot to get a group together during the day, but a night time thing would be great too!

As of yet, we have no plans for Sydney, just that we want to be there 2 nights.

PT - Bec is coming, and company would be great. :D I'll PM you.

I'm around those dates.....

Not likely to be during the day, but at night should be free.

Possibly a fish and chips run from Bridge to northern beaches (Palm Beach?) if we're worried about double demerits???

Keep us posted on your movements.

Great guys! Fish and Chips run on the 28th sounds great!

Can someone start a thread in the events section with a meeting place and time please. I'd do it but I have no idea where it will start or go to...

Any friendly Sydneysiders have some spare floor to lend?
