How hard is QR in tyres?
Trying to decide whether to bung my original rims with old A539s on and kill the last 2mm of tread or just leave my ES100s on...
The ES100s took a full day at Morgan Pk (full circuit) with only a little feathering and held up for about 3 laps before going greasy.... Will QR be any harder on them?
Cheers,
T

Tony, I'd expect QR not to be as hard on tyres as Morgan Park as the circuit isn't as tight and twisty. I'd probably go with your stickier tyres to ensure that your braking performance isn't limited by tyre grip.....it is a fast track and you will need the maximum from your brakes!
Cheers,
Danny

Yep fra I agree that QR should be a lot less hard on tyres than Morgan
Park, having dríven both. It is, as somebody else noted, a place where you want good stoppers though!
I'll be fitting my new TWR pads a few days before so look out for clouds of brake dust It'll be interesting to see how they hold up.

Anybody know if the Annual QR licence means that we won't need the $20 One-day one for the Natmeet track day? You'd like to think so!
Mike
I would like to think so as well!!!

QR is harder on tyres than you might imagine. 150km/h corners will do that. Its also quite hard on suspension, the Integra actually kicks the rear wheels airborne into the braking point on the front straight. The SP will be fun there.
fra66l - if you want to borrow some belts just holler. And yours (and navigatori) names are in the latest RallySport magazine covering the Kilcoy event.

Ted,
Yeah, picked up that copy last week. Stoked. I'll be in touch...
Pupat,
Mention for equal minimum points on S2 with the rally winners (Dixon/Best). S2 had the avg speed section - Go the bike computer! It also proves handy for hillclimbs to track top speed. Clocked over 96 down the hill on the way to a 53.7 sec pass at Mt Cotton on Sunday...
Cal,
Good advice. Just have to figure out how to get a full set of wheels into the car... Ordered some Cobalt GT Sports.. Interested to see how they run...
Cheers,
T

Yeah I'm still braking a little early for the hairpin but the really scary thing was sliding around around a bit through the top of both loops. I was actually using the throttle to get the back around as the front end understeered on the exit of the second loop where the road drops away. At the end of the first run where I pushed that hard, I was cruising slowly down the return road, replaying the run in my head and it was one of those moments when all you can do is say "FAAARK" and then line up to do it again. Reinforces the need for some track hoops though...
