45rwkw on Randy's dyno at Nissco.
Stock NA8. You'd have to say that dyno is a tuning aid rather than absolute truth but at least it makes 2:09 at PI look reasonable.

Later 2008 dyno after we got rid of a few things that had been strangling it.
Dyno 080621 SM.jpg
- NA8 motor
- Original Loch Stewart CAI
- Generic 4-2-1 headers
- Town and Country exhaust
- Jaycar DFA
- NB intake piping
- inlet/exhaust port matching
77rwkw then but probably picked up 2-3rwkw since with a modified Mazda ECU (fuel and timing remaps).

Just had a look at your car's story, Chris, It loooks like we have pretty similar cars and ideas about running them. Mine's pretty much built more for toughness than for speed. Main diff is that mine's still a daily driver so it's got the A/C, soft top, P/S, cruise control and full upholstery. Would be interesting to line the two up together at a track day somewhere.
Yh, EC has been an ongoing disaster for me. I haven't learnt it properly in the 3 lap Supersprint format. So 3 secs slower than I should be. I've done 3 events there. 2 were NSWRRC and pretty much WOFTAM for track time and the third was canned early after a clubbie drained out his oil on the racing line for an entire lap. I'm just reassessing whether I go there again or just focus on Wakie, Winton and the Island where there are driver friendly organisers in the Vic and NSW MX5 clubs and Vic AROCA.

"WOFTAM"!
Yep that sums up NSWRRC pretty well. The last ARDC round at EC went very smoothly though. It was only spoilt by rain arriving mid afternoon.

yeah seat time is a great mod! I did a 2.02 after a year since my last EC which was a 2.00 then 2 weeks after my 2.02 I did a 1.59
so yeah, more seat time = quicker laps!
I just need to get back out there!! just finding the time....and money LOL
whats the jaycar DFA?

DFA = Digital Fuel Adjuster. It's a cheap Jaycar kit that works as an interceptor between the MAF and the ECU. It lets you alter any given input voltage to any output voltage. The stock Mazda ECU goes horribly rich above 5000 at full throttle. You use the DFA to trick the ECU into believing there's less air flowing at those higher revs so that it delivers less fuel, making for a leaner mixture and more power. I can't remember exactly which now but we gained either 7 or 9 rwkw with it in one 60 minute dyno session. The DFA is gone now, replaced by interchangeable ROM chips in the ECU, so we can remap both fuel and timing.

ah cool!
so its seems a cheaper option rather than a full ECU!
could be something I may look at, I ideally would love cams and an ECU and very close to getting it fitted, its jsut getting the $$$ together!
do you have a link to the ROM chips etc? and what gains did you get out of that?
sorry for hijacking thread!!
Cheers,
Chris

NA8 socketing. There's about 40 hours reading in it. A lot of spare time and a background in electrical engineering, electronics and computer science helps.
