As per the title I noticed that Pirelli Trofeo R are available in MX-5 friendly sizes.
In fact they are available in many sizes from 15 to 21inch's.

Just to copy a few off the site that are relevant to us.
205/50ZR15 86Y TROFEORace(N4)
225/50ZR15 91Y TROFEORace(N4)
205/55ZR16 91Y TROFEORace(N0)
225/50ZR16 92Y TROFEORace(N0)
245/45ZR16 94Y TROFEORace(N0)
205/45ZR17XLTL (88Y)Race TROFEO
205/45ZR17 XL(88Y)TROFEORace(ME2)
205/50ZR17 89Y TROFEORace(N0)
225/45ZR17 91Y TROFEORace(N0)
255/40ZR17 94Y TROFEORace(N0)

They all have 60TW rating and are supposed to be a proper R-Spec tyre.

I can't work out who the NSW dealer is for Pirelli race tyres, but I emailed a Victorian one out of curiosity regarding 225/50/15 pricing.
$405 each. Ouch. So a bit more than Yokohama A050's.
I bet a chunk of that is for the N0 Porsche approval.

I know they are faster than R888R's, NT01's etc as the Americans and Europeans have compared them in various cars. That also means slower than those Hoosier R6 things they like but they would not comply as being a treaded tyre in Australia, so they are irrelevant.
They are supposed to be heaps better on the road as well.

Cannot find anything comparing them to A050's as Americans and Europeans don't have easy access to them. My best guess is slower.
I would take a guess that they are probably somewhere around Kumho V70A or Hankook TD Z221.

Anyone wanna stump up the cash and compare?
