Hi
I was driving around a 45 degree right hand bend, suburban St, when I felt something "move" in the rear left corner. The rear left now sits 15mm lower, spring isn't broken, ideas please.
Cheers
Steven

From the sound of your post, you have pulled the wheel and had a good look in there?

Two possibilities spring ( ) to mind: The shock absorber lower mounting bolt has broken/come out, and the suspension arm is resting against the base of the tube; or the spring end was not seated properly, and has now moved (rotated about the shaft) so that the end is now sitting in the recess where it is supposed to sit. Difficult to explain simply, but if you visualise the end coil of the spring, the spring top mount has similar shape to house that coil and if the end was not sitting exactly in place ... was there a thump or bang when this happened?

If you haven't pulled the wheel off to have a look, I suggest you do so before using the car again.

NB dampers are usually mounted at the top with a thin plastic gasket-like device, which often gets overlooked when being reassembled, so perhaps a previous owner has had the rear damper/s out:

Btw, not uncommon for rear right (ie RHD driver side) to sit 10mm-15mm lower: http://w.mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic ... =3&t=59880

All sorted.

When I recently lowered the rear with KINGS springs it didn't drop as far as I expected, remember the SE's sit up at the rear. Apparently it was sitting on the std bump stops  When the rear left loaded the bump stop SXXT itself. Lifted the boots and it fell out in countless pieces, have ordered a set from FCM

Fitted FCM bump stops to the rear, a HUGE difference :NB8A: The old stops had turned to powder
