i was told they cant put them on my car unless i change all 4 he literally said its illegal is this true
he also said it would throw all my car out of whack
my fronts have 205/45/17

Not sure about the legalities, but the rolling diameter between front and rear will be marginally different which may have the effect of "throwing the car out"

From a personal view, I don't like mixing profiles front to rear unless the car was designed for a staggered fit wheel and tyre.

It is legal to have different sizes on different axles.

The difference in rolling diameter will be bugger all, hell the fronts may even be taller than the rears with a 10mm difference in nominal width and same profile.

So what you want to do is fine.

Go to a different shop, they don't inspire much confidence. What about all teh cars that have different size front to rear standard? Even GT Falcons, FG, have staggered fitment.....

right u were matt
i found another dealer who said, man i have no idea why they are telling u its illegal, he had 215s on his front and 245 on his rear of his falcon
so no probs he said

i mean its not ideal for me, but new tyres cost me 230 for two pirelli dragons 215/45/17

thts all i could afford at the moment next month ill get 215 on the front

i know this may sound silly but i do think the car feels slower, but man wht do i know, its not like i race the car lol

also personally i dont like the look of the walls on the 215, i have michellin on the front and they look slick
but the 215 have a round curve to them which aint that nice in my opinion
