PLEASE HELP!!!
My ex fitted a used handbrake cable incorrectly in my na eunos. Handbrake would slowly release, bout 2 mins then was ok. So rarely used hand brake. Tonight I used it & before it released I felt a thud in back end, now constant grinding . There is no oil or fluid coming from anywhere I can see, no cables hanging under my car.
What is wrong with my car?????

Pads?

Where are you located? What mechanical knowledge do you have? Do you know how the handbrake on a MX5 works?

North/South/East/West Brisbane as there maybe a forum member close that can help.

For info on the rear brakes http://www.miata.net/garage/ebrake/index.html

This is a great guide for changing the rear (and front pads) http://mx5vic.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/DIY-Brakes-Instructions.pdf however it suggests that there is no need to back the rear calipers out until such time as you install the pads. Personally I back the pistons out before I remove the pads.

Pads, not sue of your intended use but contact Brakes Direct http://brakesdirect.com.au/aus/ or call into Supercheap/Repco/Autobarn. If after a track type pad contact Motorsport Brakes http://www.motorsportbrakes.com.au/

Not uncommon for one of the two rear passenger (usually) side brake pads to stick & rub after applying a handbrake, which is used infrequently.
Might just be the slider pin that needs greasing, but more likely the adjuster on the caliper has seized, all of which is not helped by the handbrake cable not being fit & adjusted correctly initially.
For a temporary fix, remove rear passenger (usually) side wheel - if you still have the original wheel brace to remove the wheel nuts, use this or a similar tool, to carefully prise the sticking pad away from the disc.
The original wheel brace has a useful curved wide end which helps with prising it away - from under the car you might be able to do it without removing the wheel, but you'll probably find it's the outer pad that's sticking & rubbing, so it might be necessary to remove the wheel for better access.
