Safe staggered compromise track combo - advice please

I know all you serious racers out there will tell me to get 15x9s and 225s and roll the guards and go -4 front and rear but mine is still partially a road car and now has to make do with only one set of wheels and tyres due to my being very poor after doing the motor. My lovely road wheels and tyres are sadly sold to fund the track wheels and one possible option for these track wheels is as follows so .....
Will an option of 15x7 fronts and 15x8 rears, both with 36 offset, both with 205/50s, with eventually 20mm spacers on the front to clear a future big brake kit, be properly balanced, safe, and potentially relatively quick?

I'd just expect some more understeer.... shouldn't be the end of the world. Don't forget cheap ebay wheels... I bought a set of 4 advanti racing wheels in 15*6.5 +40 for $100 like 6 years ago... they're like 4kg and were even my first race wheels until I got my first 15*8 6UL's. Then they became road wheels...I actually still use two on the rear because they clear the brakes

I'd expect really minor changes in behaviour. The wider wheels might be better, might be worse. You'd just adjust your driving accordingly. It would take about two corners. 15x6.5s are very cheap these days and 205/50R15 works fine on them. I've run very light 6.5" rims and average weight 7" rims with the same 205 tyres for no change in lap times. NSW regs don't allow me to go beyond 7".

dont bother with the stagger. 15x8 with 205/50s, and then forget the spacers also.

The setup suggested is not one I'd go looking for, but has been potentially offered as a trade-in against the sale of my Enkei road wheels and tyres. It might be convenient but I appreciate it's far from ideal.

Dave.
Just get a set of 15x8's for around $800, i wouldn't bother with this stagger business.
You can still run the 20mm spacer with the 15x8's. I did and it was good enough for under 1:40 at winton.

Another vote for square.
Stagger is for the post-race celebrations ....
