Suggestions for new tyres on my NC

Can anyone suggest what tyres I should fit to my NC Series 1? It's stock standard, does most of its driving on country roads and around Mt Tamborine and the Gold Coast. It's got some rubbish no-name brand on it at the moment. Mainly want good road handling but something that doesn't wear out too quickly.
Cheers
Sam

I am currently running
Toyo T1 Sport. The wear rating is good and they have tons of grip, particularly in the wet. They were quite affordable too at $700 for four 215/45 x 17" fitted and balanced at Tyerpower Rocklea in April this year.

depends on your budget
on standard wheels you can safely run 215-45-17's instead of the 205's
Michelin PS3 get a great wrap from a fair amount of guys here
Im running Yoko AD08R which is a great tyre in both dry and wet, but wear out quickly
Toyo T1S as mentioned above is a tops reasonably priced tyre
Bridgestone RE002 - not sure if they come in our sizes.
or there are always Ling Longs

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/215-45R17-FE ... 3f30ad5fe2What I fitted to my NB (215 40 17). Excellent grip, in the wet too. 140 treadwear index so won't last but at that price I don't mind.
They also measure about 10-15mm wider on the tread when compared to other 215's.

Thank you, one and all. That gives me some idea.
This is my first MX5 - can't ride bikes anymore, big crash - so I'm just starting to learn.
Great car, but I do miss going around Mt Tamborine on 2 wheels.

Get some decent tyres under it (I have B/stone S001's on mine) some time in the seat and you will not miss the bike at all.

+1 for Michelin PS3 in 215/45/R17.
Plenty of grip for street use in the dry or wet.
215/45/r17 is cheaper than 205, and I prefer the look of the taller sidewall.
Rolling circumference is increased by 1.4%, and my speedo is now spot on when referenced to GPS.

+1 for the Michelin PS3. Great grip in both wet and dry. Will last you up to 40,000 kilometers.
215x45s set me back $180 a corner from BJ's.
You'll pay upto $100 a tyre extra for most decent brands if you select the 205 width because it isn't as common as the 215 section. The ride from the 215 is also better. Make sure you don't select a tyre with a large block pattern as they are noisy.

+1 for PS3's
Great tyre. Well priced.
They last for some time and are a great tyre to use daily/spirited driving.

Thank you to everyone for your help.
Got 4 Michelin PS3's fitted today at Bob Jane - $159 / tyre. (215's)
Feels much better than the no-name brand that were there before.
