2.5" springs for NA konis?

my 1990 turbo is in dire need of new springs, currently running stock suspension with Koni's on the middle perch.
i was looking at changing the current set up to:
ebay or summit racing threaded perches (with some sort of adaptor ring for the narrower koni body)
QA1 8kg front 7" spring
QA1 5kg rear 7" (or maybe 8") spring
Stock front bar and rear bar.
shorter generic bump stops in the range of 36/46 F/R on NA tophats, although if i cant get the rideheight i want may have to go custom or NB hats.
i had considered going to a 6kg rear but with the turbo and no torsen rear end i may go with the softer 5kg rear.
not going to be stupid low, just looking for something around the 12.5"f 13" rear or so
any suggestions or critique?
will the konis handle the 8kg front springrates?
will i run into coil bind or spring unloading (uncaptured springs when raised are an instant unroadworhiness fine and forced reinspection here in NZ)
any suggestions?

I and a number of other Mx-5 owners in the Vic club have had King Springs with Koni dampers. You can get low or standard height. Can't remember the specs, but I do know that they will fit on the Konis without needing to do anything special.
This old thread may help you

As per Jaffa,
Std height kings progressive with the Koni's on lower perch, fit falcon ea bump stops 36mm from memory.
Keep away from high kg springs the Koni's don't like them and you don't need them.
Mine has adjustable threaded purches but I still run std height Kings
BUT
Don't you realise that unless you have coilovers, preferably cheap taiwan sh*t or you will crash and catch fire?????

I rode in an na with koni/ kings on lowest perch and it rode like a bucket of **** and still didnt feel like it had enough springrate. also i have heard that the perch rubs the cv boot on the lowest perch.

Lowest height Kings on lowest perch does rub and usually on middle perch will just clear, thats why I suggest STD height Kings.
Still has clearance and passes 100mm, also handbrake on mine tends to raise the arse end up.

Yeah, but what would an old codger like you know Tbro??????
What have you ever done to set up an MX5, gees you still use the standard type shocks, no wonder scooter is so slow you haven't progressed to coil overs like all the cool kids.........

sh*t when did mxcartalk all become such haters?
ask a reasonable question and get....
I want higher spring rates and lower the car without having my cv boots torn to bits. fair enough question i thought.
this isnt about being hella low or anything. just need to improve the performance a bit.
Ive already spent the coin on konis a few years ago so im stuck with them for the time being.
anyone running non oem size springs on thier Konis?

Do you know if the bump stops on the NA you rode in were standard or cut. I had to cut mine when I used the lowest perch height, otherwise you will ridding constantly ridding on the bumpstops...rough as guts. I did not have any issues with the CV boot rubbing...it was close though.
