Yellow-Speed coilovers?

Hey guys,

Newbie to the forum, and I'm hoping someone can give me a bit of an insight on the yellowspeed coilovers or if there are any others out there for the same price that are better. I've been researching all over this forum for a good answer on what these coilovers are like but I find a wide range of opinions, from people saying that these are great, compliant, and improve handling to these being cheap Taiwanese junk that ruin your mx5s handling, ride like sh*t and are a waste of money. Not really sure what to believe and the chance of testing these out are slim as I live in a rural area 2-3 hrs south of Sydney.

I have an nb8b and its my daily, I often go for runs on the mountain pass and the twisties around my area so I'm looking for a firm but compliant and comfortable ride. I want coilovers for the adjustability, both the dampening+rebound and also want the ride height adjustability, I may visit the track in the future but rarely. The Yellowspeeds are at the right price range for me but I dont want to waste my money on crap coilovers. I have talked to mx5mania and they say they have been developing them with yellowspeed for 4 years or so, and I wouldnt think a company like mx5mania would stand by a product that is crap right? I've also looked at MCA but are a bit out of the price range. If anybody can help it'd be muchly appreciated.

I have a set on my '93 NA8. I need to play around a bit more to find a happy medium between height and comfort.
Have read of the above thread, and others here.

I upgraded from the factory SE bilsteins to yellowspeeds and found the yellows for daily driving with a bit of spirited driving quite comfortable.
The bilsteins I thought handled quite well already and the yellowspeeds enhanced it a bit while dropping the height to a nice height while being comfortable except for the heavy potholes (re: hunter valley bone jarring potholes)
Doing my first ever track day soon so will get an idea of what they are like on track.
Iv never dríven a car with "high end" coilovers but if I had my time again if he happy with the yellowspeeds on a daily drive

I've dríven yellow speeds and found them crap harsh or bouncy, the owner has since removed them.

Price difference isn't that big to mca blues. Keep saving it will be well worth it.

P.s rebound is one part of the damping, the other being bump. No coil over in your range will have seperate bump and rebound adjustment.

I'm feeling that MCAs are the way to go for budget hight/dampening coilovers right now, but if they're a stretch, look into BC Racing's BR coilovers. I've not heard a bad word about them.

EDIT: "budget" is the wrong word, "entry level" is more appropriate.

Your getting close lachy, the better edit would be removing budget or entry level all together. I believe my reds feel just as good as ohlins on the road.

I meant the MCA Blues in the context of BC BRs and Yellowspeeds. Reds I would not call entry-level at all, but then they don't cost $1000 - $1500, which I took to be the OPs budget area. Good point of clarification though, thanks.

BC vs YS has been done before though IMO they're pretty similar in their quality

i've got YS's installed for years and only issue is with the rear travel which just needs some adjustment, in saying that all coilover brands will suffer from rear travel problems when you lower to a lower than stock ride height.
