I am interested in finding out if there is any spacesaver spare wheel which will fit my NC MX5.
I was recently seriously inconvenienced when I shredded a tyre, rendering the onboard repair system useless. Is anybody aware of any other car make or model spacesaver spare which will fit my NC. The spacesaver spare supplied with the earlier NA & NB MX5's are 4 stud and will not fit.

The rx8 space saver will fit. It also fits in the boot of the nc.
You can pick one up for around $200

Unlike the wheel that it replaces. There is a wealth of discussion in here, run a search!

...then you have to find somewhere to put the wheel and tyre you removed.
Interestingly, we picked up a 50mm roofing screw in a rear tyre today thanks to some ignorant f@%$wit who spilled a box of them over a narrow country road outside Murwillumbah and didn't warn approaching cars. Drove 7km back to Murwillumbah with screw in tyre to find all the tyre places had shut at midday (it was now 1:30pm). Anyway, with the help of our fellow travellers, used the tyre repair kit I bought from Supercheap about 5 years ago and the car's air compressor and we were back on the road again by about 2:15pm. Drove the car 155km to home and it's still holding pressure OK.

a spacesaver- a must I reckon for anyone cruising around the country. When a tyre is rendered mortally wounded then the little spare in the boot is your friend- why do all the Motoring bodies comment on road tests about vehicles with no spares- its not hard to work out. The RX8 is the go if you can get it and its worthwhile.- see Apu!! And the no where to put the road wheel is just an opportunity for a very minor amount of ingenuity- the boot lid does not have to be closed amongst other things.

It won't and you'll most likely damage the lid or the body work trying to transport the wheel and stop the lid from slapping open and closed. Then there is the problem of where to put the overnight luggage (we had a boot full) that you removed to get the wheel in.
What is the problem with a tubeless tyre repair kit? It fits in the cubby behind the driver's seat and works perfectly well as we proved. If the damage is irrepairable then I've got RACQ Ultra cover to flat bed the car and take us to some place that can fit a new tyre.
