MX5 rattle Brakes?

Postby Dragonlady » Tue Apr 22, 2014 7:18 pm

I'm a new owner of 1990 MX5 I am seeking help to identify the precise model from the series of details I have located so far. The Mazda owners manual has 8P97 on the cover. The service book has the chassis number and MX5F6C2S and the rego papers have, year 1990, model MX5-89A. The model spec on the door shows NC 92AAA. None of these seem to align with the model details listed in your site when I was registering. Please help clarify.
I am also seeking information about the brakes for this car. It appears new bendix brakes have been fitted to the rear (DB1508 Bendix 10109078) however there is a lot of play in the caliper rattle clip which I think is causing the annoying under body rattle at low speed and over bumps. I originally thought it was the exhaust heat shield but not.
Looking forward to the brains trust advice. Dragonlady.

Hi, I am unable to help you with the brake question, but if your car was built in 1990, it will have 'pop-up' headlamps and is an NA. The engine capacity will determine weather it is an NA6 or an NA8 (1.6 litre/ 1.8 litre). NC's are the current model and were built from the mid 2000's. Let people know where you are, there are streams of owners groups all with a wealth of practical experience.
Welcome to the obsession.
Enjoy. Greg.
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

1990 model will be an NA6.

These will fix your rear brake rattles: http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/brake-fitting-rear-p-958.html
You need two sets, one per side.
